Finding a pearl in an oyster is one thing, but what about a diamond in a hard-boiled egg?

Sally Thompson of Cumbra, U.K., was having some boiled eggs for breakfast when she says she felt something funny in her mouth.

“I took one, peeled it and bit into it when I feel something like gristle in my mouth,” the 39-year-old told South West News Service. “It fell on to the plate and I couldn’t understand where it had come from ― I thought it had come from me.”

What Thompson saw was a small diamond.

“I couldn’t understand where it had come from,” she said. “The only place could have been from the egg.” Thompson took the bizarre find as a sparkling omen: She’s getting married soon and is having a bachelorette party this weekend.“I believe in superstitions ― like find a feather, pick it up ― and I think there must be something about the timing of this coming. I don’t know what it will be a sign of but it is very surreal.”The egg with the diamond came in a six-pack Thompson purchased from from Asda, a British supermarket chain. She was worried that someone had actually lost a diamond. However, a jeweler who examined it said the gem was most likely cubic zirconia, not a real diamond. Now Thompson wants to figure out how the diamond got into the egg and posted on a Facebook wedding website looking for answers.Collette Francis, who previously worked on a chicken farm, believes it’s possible the diamond could have passed through the bird.“Basically the shell coating goes on last and doesn’t harden until it hits the air ... In this case it could be chicken swallows diamond, diamond gets stuck at intestine exit, egg picks up diamond on way out,” she said, according to SWNS.Daniel Brown, an egg farmer in North Yorkshire, told the Daily Mail that while it’s “possible” the chicken swallowed the diamond and it passed through the bird, it seems “very unlikely.”‘In all my years, I’ve never heard of anything quite like that,” he said.ALSO ON HUFFPOSTWeird News: Strange, But TrueSuggest a correctionDavid Moye Reporter, The Huffington PostMORE:Arts And Entertainment Food North Yorkshire by Taboola Sponsored Links You May LikeDon’t Work with a Bad Real Estate Agent Ever AgainHomeLight.comQuincy: This Meal Service is Cheaper Than Your Local StoreHome ChefThe Greatest Animal Photobombs of All TimeZimbioHere’s Why Guys Are Obsessed With This Underwear…The Weekly Brief | Mack WeldonIn 1961 This Little Girl Was Found Adrift At Sea.
